18 Aug 2009 | One last update before I go
DO NOT PANIC, your dear Jenny-fa has not unexpectedly perished. To be honest, I'm losing interest in this blog and am planning to construct a better one on another domain. In the meantime, you can see that I've neglected to post for quite a while.
Anyway, my work on the new blog has been minimal at best, so it might be a while till any of you get to behold its awe-inspiring might.
So, I've been buying stuff for college. Bedsheets, blankets, toiletries, supplies, etc… and textbooks. I just crunched the numbers — sticking to used copies, if I'd ordered my books through my college bookstore, the total cost would've been $404.50 USD. However, the total, including shipping and handling, only comes out to be $233.04 when purchasing through Amazon. Which means a savings of $171.46 or roughly 42.4 percent.
Beat that, suckers.
On a related note, I enrolled in Calculus II for the fall semester. Considering the fact that I (effectually) failed calculus last year and that my head starts thumping something awful whenever I consider a simple differential equation… this could be suicide.
So… the rest of you. Where are you heading to college and when are you leaving? And what have you been doing to prepare?

Yay, a post!! I've been getting um slightly fanatic. XD
I need to work on my blog. Haha there's so much I have to do before I leave… shopping is kinda more interesting right now. XD
I'm leaving Sept. 4th. I actually haven't bought too much, yet. I just bought a refrigerator today, and I bought a towel and bathrobe a few days ago. I'm going to bring some of the smaller stuff from home, like hangers, an alarm clock, etc. I'm not sure what books I need. I don't sign up for classes until I get there, and the book info for the classes I'm interested in aren't readily available online.
I've forgotten Calculus almost entirely… plus I wasn't exactly diligent about it the first time around haha. I really should consider signing up for an easier Calculus class, but the math department seems to frown on that…

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, me got a mini-fridge and a small TV. And a bunch of other stuff. And some new additions to my gothic/punk wardrobe… ^____^
Wow, your term starts a bit late. So when's the first day of class for you?
Also, did you get my link to that news article I left on your blog? About the head tax on Brown students? Do you know if it's actually going to happen? O___O
Yay to more shopping. And chocolate-buying. XD

I found that I have spent less and less on books as my college career developed. But looks like you got a legit deal! College bookstores will always be the biggest ripoff since college tuition hahaha.
I plan on only buying one book total this year if things work out to my advantage…Are you staying in the dorms?? Will you have a roommate?? Your first year in college, how exciting!!!
Let me know if you ever feel like you need a care package, lol. This one time I got a box of cookies and random knick knacks from an old teacher and it really made my day :)
Oh yea, something I've noticed from some friends that took sciencey/mathy type courses is that they'd buy the international version of the book. The page numbers may be off by a little (not too sure if it's always like that) but it's like the same book but cheaper. Not sure if you'd be comfortable with the fact that the book might not be exactly the same, but something to look into for the future!!
BUENA SUERTEEEEEE, bonne chance, and jia you? (a cheering on thing, yea?) hehe hope to hear from you soon :)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Deanna, thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I'll living in a dorm with a roommate. And muchas gracias for your offer of a care package! Maybe I'll take advantage of it someday. ^___^
Anyway, I did consider buying international versions of some books, but as the books in question were for math and science and undoubtedly contain measurements, I decided against them since I can't work at all with all metrics. Or, at least, I'd be annoyed by it.
Thank you very much for your comment. I hope you have an exciting and intellectually stimulating year as well!

Ah I wanted some more winter clothes. I might have to wait for those, though.
The first day of class isn't until the 9th, but orientation starts on the 5th. ^^
Ah yeah, I did get that link, and I actually got an email about it, too. I haven't heard anything about it since, though. O_O
Haha I just went to Hershey Park last week and bought bags of chocolate. I've eaten so much already. XD
