23 Jun 2009 | Back in the world's fattest nation
Just came back from the airport. Yep, back in the States. Everything feels different. The last three weeks felt like a lifetime.
FYI, the Beijing airport is China's only world-class facility. Cleanest floors, rooms, bathrooms (especially the bathrooms), and the finest assortment of duty-free goods…
On the other hand, seeing such a profusion of portly, Caucasian/multi-ethnic people is now slightly… baffling.

Hey!! It's been a while!! I see you went to China haha, and now you're back…How was your trip? How long did you go for??
And I also forgot to say congrats on getting into Rensselaer! I read the wiki page and it sounds like a great school :)
Hope the rest of your summer is fabulous! Oh yea, in terms of people, I've been using what I call the Starbucks Scale. I label people tall, grande or venti based on their size. :) I recently went to LV and let me just say that I think all the venti people like to gather there. I was astounded when I saw so many in one place.

Hi, Deanna! Likewise, long time no see! My trip was all right. Three weeks of relentlessly hot weather and dirty bathrooms. All right.
You went to Las Vegas? That Starbucks Scale actually makes sense. Should've used it to standardize my Chinese obesity count.
Again, thanks for the comment!

Welcome back =) Long time no comment…haha.
Did you go to the market where people buy their veggies and meat? It's always dirty, smelly, and loud, but I like it a lot. Makes you feel…closer to others, you know, more human.

Ashira, I didn't go to that kind of market, but I know what you mean. I really miss Tianjin now. Especially downtown Tianjin. I miss the street shops and the dance music…
